I took a rabbit water bottle with the ball in it filled with water poked a pin whole at top lets off a drip every 5 seconds Gucci sees the drip hanging from the spout and I think she made a game out of it she fires her toung at the hanging water

two drips per second is ideal. i'd rather pay the extra 2 bucks and get something i can adjust to the extreme...

ya two drips is good but u dont get it it has a water drop hanging at all times unless ur giving ur chameleon crack its not going to catch drops dropping that fast

my chameleons put their mouths around the hose MOST of the time. just stating what i have heard and experienced as the best pace. i bet yours works just fine, glad you're sharing your experience and its a good thing you're giving others ideas on how to save money, especially these days with the whole economy etc... :)

He means for rabbits and hampsters the drinking fixtures you buy have a ball in the part that they drink from. That prevents it from just leaking all over the cage. The rabbits suck on it and actually move the ball when they do to allow the water to be released. I never thought of that idea and i just threw 2 out. But around here they are more exp than the Little Dripper, like 8-9 dollars. If i were you i would add a small bit of hose to the end of it which will allow it to fall more gently on leaves where it might be easier for her to lap up. Thanks for sharing.

Just be carefull that it isn't spring loaded and that the chameleon cannot pinch its tongue if they shoot at the ball and it goes into the tube. Especially since she is small. It would be terrible if she hurt her tongue because you wanted to save a few bucks. They can work though, as chameleons are attracted to the shiny ball, but I find my chameleons like to put their whole mouth under/over a dripper to get watter when it's dripping at about 2-3 drops a second. A hamster water bottle would not drip fast enough for my babies. :)

Sounds like it could be a really good idea, I'm waiting to get a baby ambilobe so I'm up for trying it out! Just to clear up, where do you put the pin hole?

Personally I suggest just using a dripper as it's much easier to control. I think it's worth the few extra bucks. Easy peasy
