So i got a camera tonight i wasnt impressed, and im taking it back. it was a Sony DSC-H3. crappy pic quality, and it only had like 8.1 MP

so im wanting some feed back on what the best Camera for around $300USD would be. ill post some shots of the Sony, but it holds no light to most of the stuff i see on here.

check your local craigslist for nikon/canon d40.... might find one for 325.. what they go for out here.

to me these pics are trash quality. no matter what i did i could not get a desirable outcome zoom in/ no zoom/ every light ratio setting. best one i got would be the last one. these were all inside of course

any only through IE is the only way to do the nice attachment thing right?

Not to digress too much, but if you have a crappy point and shoot Doc, try taking it outside.

Mine really sucks as well, and can't focus worth a damned.

Take the thing outside in natural sunlight though, and suddenly the thing is shooting like an SLR. Well not an SLR, but it really helps.

Between work cameras and personal cameras..

I have a nikon d80, d100, d200, d300, d2hs and cannon rebel

Ive been a photojournalist for the Army for 8 years.

I bought this for my girlfriend for xmas and it blows me away on how well it takes pictures

and at walmart its $175

k thanks. yeah its a point and shoot. it looks great with proper lighting, but such crap on pictures i actually want to take lol

Forget all the D40, D60, and other Ds.. go with D90!!!! OMG... :D :D sorry.. I got uncontrollable urges to scream when talking about nikon camera :p

I absolutely agree with Sang. If you're willing to get a bit more serious about photography, I would urge you to invest on a Nikon D40-- it's your best choice in the -$800 price range.

On the other hand, if you are set on a point and shoot camera, I also agree with MEPOKEU, check out the Canon SD1100 IS, or even better, the Canon SD880 IS, which goes for about $260.

Most importantly, forget resolution. Unless you're shooting for large prints, I would look into a camera with a good optical zoom, acceptable ergonomics, user-friendly controls, and a nice LCD.

The D90 is a great choice if you're willing to spend more than $800-- in fact, it can produce the same (if not better) quality image (with improved ergonomics) than the D300, which costs almost twice as much. The D90 also has a video recording option (in 720p), which is more of a gimmick as the video from the D90 is highly compressed, and produces HORRENDOUS rolling shutter artifacts (Jello effects), and is FAAAAAAR from the HD video solution it is made out to be.

Good luck!

i bought a D40, and love it. i hate point and shoot crappy quality

so what settings do you all use for inside photos of your chams?

here is what i think is the best i could do with my cannon powershot sd750 point and shoot camera.this is not full resolution and has been resized *still doesn't fit sorry about teh stretching*

Actully the D80 is also a great choice. Its a consumer grade version of the D200. It runs about $900 new and used about $700. I got one about 3-4 months ago (caught the photo bug on the forum) and honestly.....Ive only had it out twice.....>.< though spring is comming so I think ill be using it alot more.

yeah, but cameras are great to have. im very satisfied with the D40. if only i still lived in FL. instead of nasty KY. there is nothing here except factories

Congratulations. The D80 is a great choice as well, but again, considering price, the D40 gives you the most for your buck. I know pros who own D3s and 5D MKIIs and still use their D40 for every day use. It's a great purchase, especially since you can now find them with a VR lens as a kit!

Cheers,

i just know what my cousin told me, if you want an amazing camera that is almost as good as the 1500 dollar one he bought from nikon.. get a d40.

thats my advice, i looked it up, found a few on craigslist for liek 325/350.. when i can afford one, ill go for it depending on condition of the camera.

BTW you can get good shots even with a powershot camera.
