Just putting this out there, as I haven't heard this reported before. I painted my fingernails recently (for the first time in twenty-odd years), and was very quickly taught that shiny, coppery fingernails resemble shiny, coppery beetles - at least, I think that was the chameleon's thought process. I'd extend my hand for him to climb on (as he does daily) and, instead of doing so, he gazed at my nails in sheer fascination, brought both eyes into focus, and opened his mouth and did the preparatory tongue extension. He did this several times during the brief period I had painted nails. I just thought this was interesting, as he is captive-bred and I have had him since he was three months old (he's now 3+ years), and I doubt very much that he has ever been exposed to metallic-colored insects.

Ive noticed this as well - but for me its pretty much ANY nailpolish, even some less shiny ones. Green, blue, pink, copper, silver - the only colour they are not interested so far seems to be red.
