Sheldon

I got Sheldon yesterday from who I thought was great with exotics and have now found out that she wasn't so much. (Ex. Told me to use fountains, didn't talk about special lighting, recommended terrarium. Etc) So, she told me if the tail was curled he was content and happy. I got him out this morning and he turned pretty green. Put him back up and went out to get plants and proper lighting. Got him out to put in a small travel box while I redid his enclosure and he wrapped his tail around my finger. Once again, pretty green color. He seemed relaxed. At one point he closed his eyes.

Is he actually content? Or does all that mean something else!?

Thanks in advance!

When valcron gets upset sometimes when I go to pick him up he curls his tail all the way and pulls back. When I have him out and gets comfortable he wraps his tail around whatever he can to be secure. Unfortunately each chameleon is different. You just gotta learn about him

Many chameleons will curl their tails while sleeping, but as for being content? I don't think this would be a good indicator. They will often wrap their tails around things for stability. As for closing his eyes, just make sure that it isn't happening much during the day. (If your boy is napping or closing his eyes under the lights this could be an indication of problems.)

Here is a great resource to show the basic care needs for your new friend. Best of luck with him and we'd love to see some pics! Welcome to the forums!

Thank you. I will try to post some tonight since I have upgraded his enclosure. Closing his eyes was around 11 pm last night, so just past his bed time haha. I had gotten home late from getting the stuff he needed and had to.move him while I cleaned.
I am a little miffed about what I was told at the pet store...but luckily I looked online for help. Thanks for all the help!!
