beginner with jackson

hey everyone ive had my jackson for about two and a half weeks now and he eats great. he is roughly 6months old? and very shy. he seems to love potatoe bugs as a snack and enjoys his crickets. but im concerned about the humidity level. whats an appropriate % his cage stays at 78 at the top and 66 degrees at the bottom. any help or pointers to improve his life would be greatly appreciated.

A cool mist humidifier would help to keep the hunidity up. You can get them at drug stores or Wal-Mart. Just keep it pointed at one portion of the cage to create a cool,wet side and make sure there are still some areas where he can retreat from the mist should he want to. Check out this video of how I had my baby Jacksons cage set up. See the humidifier keeps the plants wet with water droplets, but the top portion of the cage up near the basking light stays a little drier and warmer.

Luckily, ultrasonic room humidifiers aren't expensive these days. Even if you can't do all the fancy pipe assembly you can still run a humidifier next to the cage or set it on a shelf above the cage. A multiple setting lamp timer can create cycles of fog/no fog.

JP (jackson pollock) and i are getting along great hes starting a shed cycle i believe and has been eating ALOT more
ive been giving him wax worms, mealies, pill bugs, crickets and house flies!
its funny how i have adopted all these new hobbies just from owning a cham

seriously hooked, im working on building a custom cage out of some nice hardwoods and window shopping for a possible addition im thinking of veilds(easier to come across locally) or a panther but im kind of sketchy about the whole shipping of live animal

Nice! I have had a jacksons for a year and have never regretted owning him, I recently bought a bigger cage and tried the whole live plant thing but it just didn't work, I now have his cage set up with fake stuff (it's looking quite nice and then have a rope to a large plant next to his cage. It is working very well and he loves going back and forth! Plus his cage doens't feel like a cage soo much any more (he has always tried to get out, he likes to feel free). I have thought about getting him a mister but just not sure about the whole thing anyway glad your liking him!
