I want to share how chameleon forums have changed my chameleons life for the better! Below are pictures of before and after, in a period of 1 week how my cage has transformed.
Food:
Before:
just crickets with a huge dust of calcium
tap water
After:
crickets, mealworms, waxworms, superworms, silkworm with a light dust of calcium every other day and a light dust of multivitamin once a week
crickets are fed the green slop(mixture of kale, collard greens, alphalfa sprouts, and zuchinni), white box container(gerber squash baby food), cricket quencher and cricket gut load, also water pillows
tap water is dilluted with zoomed reptisafe(dechlorinizes tap water)
Habitat:
Before:
Molly used to be in the tank i now keep my crickets in with one UVA 60 watt basking bulb and a 60 watt infared night light. She had bark substrate and one vine to climb on. I used a bottle of water with holes in the bottom for her drip system. When i removed her from that cage i discovered an inch of water in the bottom.
After:
Molly is in a 6 foot cage with 2 basking spots and 2 UVB 10.0 reptisun lights. She has an IV bag that drips for 3 hours and a humidifier that mists lightly for 15 minutes every couple of hours. She has a around 60 feet of ivy like vines and 50 feet of different shaped vines to exercise her feet. Chameleon forums helped me discover why her color was so dark- She needed more UVB and heat! They also changed the cage 4 times to the final current sage with the humidifier. They helped me discover the varieties of natural plants to put in her cage to increase the humidity to 50%! (there is currently 7 plants, 2 hanging and 5 on the bottom)
Health:
Before:
I didnt know her age, or sex. I couldnt even give her a name because i was unsure if it was a male or female.
After:
Not only did chameleon forums help with determining that it was a she, they also encouraged me to find a vet to get a regular health check.
THank you to everyone who has helped along the way and i hope that i can continue to better her lifestyle and learn more about these amazing creatures! Please share how chameleon forums has changed your chameleons life!
Or any other ways to make it better!
