Bearded Dragon Beard?????

Ok my bearded dragon is 6 months old. Yesterday he was shedding and today his beard is black. It wasn't like that yesterday. He is still active and eatting fine. Is this normal or should I call the vet? I did give him crickets that the petstore dusted for me, they were dusted with Flukers calcium with D3.

How many inches is he total? I believe my dragon is around that age if not a bit older and only 11 inches in total length. I cam across another beardie in a petstore that was double her body size and was only 7 months old supposedly..

My boy, Hugo, goes pitch black and bobs his head at my husband whenever he comes near me. I think Hugo is confused about his status in our family.

beard will change color with mood- just like chameleon.

When he's feeling "uppity" it will turn black. Other times it will be pale like before.

He is a very nice little guy. His lights went off at 8 so I will measure him tomorrow. I'm not sure of his exact age but when we got him on Oct. 1st he was about 2 inches long. His beard went back to normal. He is my son's pet. His in a 55 gallon aquarium in his room, and he follows my son back in forth while he's in his room.

Okay! I measure him and he's 16 inches from nose to tail. He are some pictures of him too. Wizard is definetly my favorite bearded dragon.

Hmm i wonder if hes that big already because he's a male... He's almost as long as my adult female who is close to 4 yrs old by now. What's he been eating!

He gets fresh veggies in the mornings. (Variety of greens, peas, carrots, and whatever low in acid veggies I have in the fridge.) In the evening he gets crickets and/or superworms. I have to limit him on those. I usually give him about 5 large crickets and a superworm. They say to let him eat as much as he can in 15 minutes. But wizard in a machine. He will eat the whole 15 minutes, and not slow down. He just went through a big growth spurt, and I haven't changed anything.

They grow at different rates and grow to different sizes, just like people.

Really quick ones that are in optimal conditions and feeding can grow to that size within 6 months. Slow ones can take a couple of years at the extreme...

Sex has nothing to do with it that I've ever noticed.

Awww he's a handsome boy! I remember when my Jasper was that small he's just had his 1st birthday and is 22inches long.
