Basking?

Hello Everyone! I’m a new cham owner , I’ve read that it’s okay if your cham turns brown when basking. however i haven’t seen a post mentioning if it’s normal if they flare up as well when basking? His temp gauge is around 87 & he’s 5 months

Flaring up is normal. They try to flatten out as much as possible so their entire body can absorb the heat. I have one guy who will flatten like a pancake sideways

87 might be a little to warm for your youngster, if he is doing any mouth gaping try lowering it to the lower 80s
