Basking Light Dome

I am concerned that my basking bulb dome is not wide enough so that it will get hot enough to bask in, am I worried over nothing?

But thats with a 50w should i change the dome? Or bulb to 60w? My dome only can hold up to 60w.my dome is 5 inches

How olds your cham? Also, I doubt the diameter of the dome has an effect on tempature. If you need it to get a bit warmer, try upping the wattage of the bulb. Make sure to test it first though. Also make sure the basking light isn't to close, you dont want your cham to get burnt.

I'm still setting up for my lil dude but he will be 3 months old. Wont the temp go up once theres plants and moisture as well as humidity? I'll try my 60 nd see what happens. I'll place branches 6-8 inches under light so he won't burn.

The dome can effect temp, slightly, as a bigger dome will radiate more heat, and create a larger pocket of heated air inside it. It is slight, but depending on the setup it could make a significant difference.

Yup, it sure will.
Yup. Since you have time, I would spray the enclosure and all, and play around with the lights and such so you have an accurate idea when he gets there.
