Banana Tree

Do you know what species of Banana Tree/Plant you have? I could not say for certain until you provide a positive ID of your plant.

If I recall correctly Bananas are safe, confirmation only can come with a positive ID though.
Affraid not. Maybe the best I could give you is a picture of it later on after it's new growth comes in. Or if by some stroke of luck I for sure find it on the Internet somewhere and give you it's name, but I highly doubt that because I'm sure there's hundreds of Banana Trees and to find the specific one would be quite difficult to do. Especially since I'm no plant expert or have ever really done too much research to be able to determine the exact species of Banana Tree I possess.

If you want an positive ID I would take a picture of the tree, a leaf and a flower and stop by a local plant nursery. They should be able to give you an ID and possibly even say if the plant is poisonous.

Problem is I live out in the sticks. No local plant nurseries. But there's some pretty knowledgeable people on here, and you sure seem to be one of em, so I'd be content with taking pics and showing them on the forum. Sure someone will know or could direct me to a link that will surely help.

Sure, I could possibly except it could take a while to ID and to determine if the plant is poisonous. I'm extremely busy during the week and work on the weekends. If you don't mind waiting a bit send me the best pictures you have got.

Ahhh, see it will be a while before I could even get a pic of it sent to you because it's still completely brown. It hasn't started over yet for this year. Or could you possibly diagnose it's species by seeing it in this state? In which case I can send you pictures tomorrow.

If it is completely brown set aside a Saturday in the next couple months when it is green and then take the pictures or a part of the tree and allow the Nursery to ID the tree first hand. Simple as that and no schedules are bothered. You could even email the pictures to a local nursery.
