Is it safe to use a banana tree in my enclosure? I cant find anything that says they are toxic to chams.....I know they can eat bananas but I am not sure about the plant itself. The huge leaves would be amazing for water to collect on!

they're non-toxic, but get really big, require heavy lighting and humidity, and require a lot of fertilizer (might be a concern if your cham likes to chomp on dirt). Could work well with a high humidty cham like the jacksons

I use a cane plant which has similar leaves to a banana in that they are long and flat. The upside is that they are difficult to kill and generally thrive under lights and the misting. When the leaves start growing too long and start to block out the UVB light or the basking area I just trim them back, but the plant is still fine. I don't know the real name for a cane plant, but have been using them for 5+ years - you can break off the stalks that shoot off from the main stem and re-pot them to save money as well! :D

if possible can you post a picture of the cane plant? maybe someone can identify it, sounds pretty cool and easy to care for

Here's my attempt at using Tapatalk to add the pic. This isn't the best representation, but the good ones are in my cages right now, this one is recovering, but is about 4 or more years old.
