I have a local pet store that has Bamboo in with their chams.... is this a big nono? The guy knows a lot about a lot of different reptiles, but chameleons are not his for take.

I think true bamboo is cool the big problem is that fake or lucky bamboo as its called that they sell as good luck charms.

True bamboo is good from what i have read. Outdoor we have budda belly bamboo

bamboo ?

the original poster may have found his answer, there may be others wondering the same thing. although i am relatively sure there are places in the wild where chams and bamboo co-exist without issue, however a captive enviroment creates special issues and it is not usually found on most cham safe plant lists, and with approximately 1000 varieties, exact identification can be difficult, and some varieties are reported to be harmful, i do have (lucky) bamboo in one of my cages, but my jax never eat it or show interest in it and they rarely climb on it, so i guess the real answer would be that it depends on the type of cham (whether or not it tends to eat plants) and the type of bamboo./ i am not recomending it and my opinion would be the same as for many cham issues , when in doubt avoid. jmo

I have bamboo growing about a 100 yards from my house. I cut what I need let it dry and remove all foliage. I put it together with zip ties and add greenery over the top of it be it fake or live plants. I do not know the species that is here, but I have never taken a chance with it alive since most it here grows well over 20 feet.
