Hello all!
For those of you who have been following my threads, my jackson's neonate is not doing good. This morning he was good, drank some water, but would not eat. He seemed very lethargic and I thought it was just from him
waking up. He never showed interest in the fruit flies though, he ate cricket juice. But I just went to check on him, and he was on the bottom of his deli cup, half white. Not like white markings, I mean from halfway down his back was a straight line from brown to white. I think he may have fell in between the two and a half hours that I was checking on him. I don't really think he will make it through the night, but I am glad he was in my life. Seeing such a small thing humbles you, it makes you feel important, the care of a little one is in your hands. I am just disappointed that he will be gone soon. Thanks for all of the support guys! It really helps during the tough times.

Thanks for following my journey with Eripui,

Even if he has only been with you a very short time, it hurts to lose one. But there will be more for you.

Maybe you should PM Jannb for one of her baby veiled, that has to lift your spirits.:):)

I would, but I am in a montane hole, and I am about to receive some new species.

Ah poo. I'm sorry to read this. I was really hoping he would have gotten stronger for you. The ovoviviparous species are challenging but now you are better prepared for the next ones.

Just checked on him. He won't make it for another 30. He is taking his last breaths, and is all the way white. I am so sad he didn't make it.

Think about it in the wild, only the strong survive and you gave him the best life you could and more than what he would have had.

Sorry to hear that. They definitely are a challenge. My first bout with babies from a live bearing species was not successful at all. Hopefully our second shots are much more rewarding;) BTW, did you get them yet?

No soon though. Hopefully this week. I am getting some of those and another type. I am excited

I'm so sorry. I lost all 6 of my rudis babies, all at various stages of their development. I can't believe how attached I got to those wee beings, and how hard it was to watch the last one pass away right before my eyes, much as you're watching your little one do. I felt so helpless. Such fragile little lives, but we do our best and that's all we can do.

hopefully second time is a charm

sorry to hear that. if its any consolation, even the most experienced keepers have problems keeping them alive if they are not healthy to start with. the problem was almost certainly with nutritional /supplementational issues required for proper conditioning. i have had that problem before when the gravid state wasnt recognized early enough during the term. now that you are better aware of the importance of it, you have the opportunity to be better prepared for next time. now is the time to start, there is a good chance she will be ready to birth again approx 6-7 months from now, even if there is no further mating. jmo

Even worse news right now. The mother is really bad. She was doing fine, and around 3 when I went to Check on her, her eyes were sunken in, she had pooped today too, it was half blood half feces. Very little urates. She has a very weak grip and she isn't going to make it through the night. She opens her mouth and looks like a human that has dry heat(feel like you have to throw up but nothing comes out), and is starting to change into a dark color that is slowly taking over the rest of her once beautiful lime green body. I am upset because I can't do anything, all vets are closed right now, and I don't think she will make it through the night, let alone the stress of the trip to and from the vet's office with poking and proding on her. Thanks to all who have given me encouragement and have been following my threads about my jackson's Adventure.

I am very sorry you lost the babies and the mother. Sure makes me rethink the idea for ever breeding my pair. Maybe if xanthoman will help me I could try.
