Bad fall

My chameleon got spooked by the sudden daylight this morning and freaked out, falling off his vine about two and a half feet to the bottom bellow. I got so scared but he got up and walked up, being a complete BAMF. I'm still worried though he seems perfectly happy and fine, could there be any damage done that's not visible, like internal bleeding?

At the moment my family cannot afford a vet "just in case" since they're all convinced he's totally fine.

Most likely he is fine. They seem to be geared for falls. Mine has fallen from about 7 feet up on my patio clmbing on these ropes he likes and he has never gotten injured. Just keep an eye on him and make sure he is able to grip wtih all his limbs. You know what is normal and what is not as far as the way he acts so just stay on top of that.

He'll probably be alright. Remember, these guys are super light and they are built to fall and be ok from large heights. A fall from 2' is not likely to pose a danger to a healthy chameleon. Kansas is right, he might wake up tomorrow with a dark bruise but more than likely he will be just fine. Doesn't hurt to keep an eye on him and his behavior and note if anything changes.

Not a problem. If he got hurt he'll be less likely to do it again, but some seem to just shrug it off and keep diving....:)
You guys know their ribs are cartilaginous, not bone. They have evolved the 'puff up and drop' method of avoiding foliage based predators, and have built in shock absorbers. Don't let him drop onto concrete and he'll likely never break a bone doing it.
If he shakes himself off and carries on going like a BAMF then it's because that's what he is.
I'd be very surprised if he has any visible bruising.

The first time my Sambava jumped from a 2 foot shelf to the floor I almost passed out, thinking he killed himself. He just ambled away like no big deal. I was so relieved that I'd read about this kind of behavior to avoid predators. But the first time it happened it still freaked me out.

A Fischer's I had once used to regularly jump off the top of the valance over the sliding glass door and land on the floor....never a problem. Always shocked me though!
