Bad Dog!

So my stupid dog learned his lesson today, and now knows what a chameleon is.

I open the cage is morning because Loki was scratching at the door like usual. As soon as I had open, my little terrier runs in and sticks his snout right in Loki's face for a sniff. Loki didn't like that. Loki didn't like that at all. He took a quick snap at the dog's nose, who immediately jumped back and sneezed. He didn't draw any blood, but it was still hilarious to watch. These little lizards will take on the world, given the chance.

Anyone else have a similar story?

I would have had a heart attack after seeing a dog get that close to my chams. Haha my Monitor had bitten a nosy cat one day, just a warning nip but the cat doesn't like monitor shaped reptiles anymore.

haha, now what says the chameleon.

Lotus survived a pretty bad incident with my dogs. Left a gaping wound through his body and a broken rear leg. Remember to always close your cage doors!

I don't know that you can blame the dog....Bad owner might be a better title...you let the dog in. I'm not opposed to pet interaction but it does need to be very carefully controlled. You don't want your dog doing permanent damage to your chameleon and vice versa.

Well sometimes the animal can run up before you can notice. Dogs and cats have a natural urge to sniff and check everything out.

my dog is super nice to all animals i let him cruze with my chams. he is kinda scared of them so he dosent pay them much attention. but he dose go and chill with my beardies in the back yard. he fallows them all over so it makes it easy to keep an eye on the dragon. they even post up next to each other and bask in the sun. im not by any means saying let your dog hang out with ur reptiles. i am saying ive raised my dog to be animal friendly so he dosent hurt any small creature he even hangs out with my mouse with no trouble. ill try and take a photo with dozer hanging with a lizard.

HAHAHHAHAHAHA

effing dogs.

so ive got a german shepherd mix from a rescue. based on what she looks like and her disposition, i assume shes a german shepherd/german pincher mix.

this is her with my sister

shes a prick, shes OCD and like every other dog we have ever owned (all female) she thinks humping people is an awesome idea.

she looks cute as hell but shes a bastard. she has no social etiquette. if we take her to the dog park, she singles out the biggest or most aggressive dog and attacks full force. worst part is she makes greyhounds look slow.

for as big as the dog park is she identifies it as a confined area. she is only okay with 4 dogs, one is our neighbors, i think shes a mutt. then my sisters ex bfs brothers dog a boxer german shepherd mix, and then a pure german shepherd male thats a regular at the dogpark and a boxer that lives across the street from us. shes fine with them she loves em but if she sees a brachycepahlic dog she singles those out more so than others.

literally last time we took her to a dog park within the first 3 seconds she made a dog bleed. so shes grounded for good. i only wish i could find a group of people with big dogs willing to risk their heath to socialize my dog a little. shes pretty small at 40-45 lbs but shes got beast mastery goin for her. she dosnt jump crazy high (7 ft for my dearly deceased husky dalmatian mix) but she scares the crap out of friends and family.

still my beagle jamie R.I.P. was pro at killing anything and everything in sight. bunnies? that was her job. cats? effing retarded neighbors let them free range, not my fault. birds? i tried getting her to drop a dove once...she crunched down and swallowed. all that was left were the two wings sticking out of either side of her mouth.

we hooked her to a picnic table once instead of the zip line. following the grove in the ground we find her a couple blocks away trying to force the table through thicket.....

there must be some crazy bitch chemical in our water. cause i rarely hear about peoples dogs acting like all 3 of mine have

my dog titan (left in the pic) weighs 12.5 stone and is 18 months, he loves my male cham rhino, the only problem i have is when rhino wants to walk onto titan as he is sniffing him and grams his nostril! instant sneezing fit and spends the rest of the hour standing on my bed watching rhino! :D

Very cute dogs everyone! Great faces on those mastiffs, are those French?

This is my girl, Mina, and she's always been pretty excellent with all my reptiles. I free ranged all 6 chameleons in the house at one point and she wasn't banned from going anywhere except near the feeder bins, because she sticks her head in them and I'm afraid she'll tip them over. But she's great, she won't touch them, she watches them from a comfortable distance, and respects them if they're walking passed and they hiss at her, she'll turn away.

My puppy isn't quite ready to be introduced to them, but time will tell. Shelties are a really gentle breed, I'm not really worried about him either. But he does have that puppy energy (5 months) and I'm sure he'd try to instigate one to play chase with him

Edit - Deku, have to contacted any trainers? Your dog's issues are bad but they aren't unfixable, especially because she's part shepherd and these breeds are SMART like nothing else. Quick to learn and quick to obey if given the right motivation.
