I just purchased a baby veiled Chameleon on Friday. She is in a all screen set up 29x12x36. She has veins and plenty of artificial plants to hide. I have a water drip system set up. I mist between 3-4 times daily. I have a basking light on tope with 100 amp bulb. The humidity is aroun 50%. When i first got her she was in a glass setup from Friday thru Monday. On Sunday she ate 2 crickets for me. On monday she wouldnt eat. We then transferred her to her all screen set up and since then wont eat for us at all. I have seen her drink on numerous accounts. Help i just want my little girl to be ok. Im hoping that she just needs time to settle into her new screen enclosure and that i am just being over nervous.

How old is she? I got Mulberry when he was 2 weeks old last september, and i had a lot of trouble with him eating in the beginning. I think it's normal for them not to eat for a few days with all of the stress of a new environment. Are you feeding her pin heads or what size crickets are you feeding? When I got Mulberry I went and bought "small" crickets from the local pet store. These crickets were actually more like mediums + larges but i just didn't know it.

I think you mean 100W that's probably to hot for a baby chameleon, baby chameleons cant handle high temperatures as well as adults can. They find it more difficult to control their body temperature.

I know veiled chameleons like hot basking spots, but based on the size of your set up I would recommend a 60W bulb, until your chameleon is hitting around 4-6months of age. Have you got a thermometer and hydrometer in place? This is vital to monitor the correct set up for your new cham. I would recommend for a baby a basking spot between 29-30 degrees celcius and if you are able a drop down to about 25 degrees celcius in the cooler area.

It's not unusual for chameleons to refuse to eat for a while when placed in a new home. If you are feeding daily you just might not be witnessing it actually feeding/hunting. If it has been longer than a week or so and you havent witnessed it feed perhaps a visit to the vet maybe, or a trip back to reptile store for some advice. Ask the store what bugs they were feeding to the chameleon and try the same ones.

I have just re-read your post. You're talking in inches right? Depending on the size of your chameleon that might be quite a big set up and he/she maybe stuggerling to find his/her food.

Welcome to the forums. I keeps veileds, panthers and a parsonii and I have a blog that I'm attaching below for new keepers. I know 100 watt would most likely keep her too hot and that if she's a baby then her cage is too large and she's not able to find her food. Young veileds should be eating 12 to 15 small feeders a day. Also if the feeders are too large she can't eat them. Jann

We are feeding her from a cup. we are trying tiny crickets, and differnt kinds of worms that the pet store recommended trying. I have seen her drinking so i do know she knows where her water is
