Hi,
I recently purchased a baby veiled chameleon 2-4 inches long from an online vendor and received him tuesday.
His cage is 16*16*30, but I plan on making a larger cage in the near future.
I put a few plants in his cage and plan on buying some pathos and other recommended plants when they are in season.
My set up is a medium sized cage reptibreeze starter kit.
What I am noticing within the last day my chameleon has been closing his eyes a lot throughout the day. I did put a 75W heat bulb in and believe this may have raised the temperature up too high, therefore I moved it back to the 60W and his cage sits close to 78 degrees at the top. When I had the 75W in it was close to 100 degrees.
I wonder if my chameleon may be suffering from too much UVB light, as he was close to the set up yesterday, but I removed the branch that allowed him to get really close to the bulb.
Currently monitoring and placed cup made dropper to allow him some extra water if he needs it. Does anyone know what I can do for my little guy? Should I give him some time to recover?
