Baby Panther chameleon "patrolling" branch

I've had my little one for about a week now. It is about 1 month old and he/she has been very active and had good sleeping cycles along with regular food/water ingestion. However, in the last day or two, it has been patrolling a certain live branch near the top part of the cage near the heat lamp. I know that chams like to bask, but how about walk back and forth? He will go to one end of the branch slowly, chill for a few minutes (or longer) and then go to the other side. He also explores the rest of his environment sometimes, but spends most of the time at this branch. Any ideas?

They will have "a spot". My "cage" is 8ft long and 4ft wide, and he spends the majority of the time on one 2ft long branch, goes under the heat light, looks out the window, repeat.

As mentioned by others, my cham seems to have a favorite spot as well. While the cham makes it way around all parts of the enclosure, there is one stalk on the back side that it frequently sleeps on and is deemed to be its "safe place".
