Baby panther chameleon near bottom of cage and not moving

I have a 2-3 month old panther chameleon, he is in a large viv - its just over 4ft tall and 32 inches wide. We use two 100watt heat bulbs and a 5.0 UVB strip bulb.

AT night we have to keep bulbs on as it gets too cold.

Have only held him once since he arrived on Sunday night

Sunday seen him drinking water off leaves and eat a locust.

yesterday he ate a locust whilst we were home and drank water again.

This morning he has been wondering round his viv but has been sat near the bottom since about 4 and also had his eyes closed before.

He has had a 12 hr light and dark cycle so could he be just going to sleep earlier?

If anyone can give me any advice please help!

Thanks

Hello, welcome to the forum. Just a couple quick questions, You said you keep his lights on to keep him warm but then said he has a 12 hour light cycle. I am confused.

Do you know what the temps and humidity are in his cage? I need temps at the top where he will bask and the temp near the lower part where he will go to get away from the heat. He may be too warm. It often takes them a day or two for them to settle in. Some take longer. Mostly make sure his needs are met, water, heat, darkness, and food. I would makes sure on those and then pretty much leave him alone.

First instinct would be that he is too hot with the 2 100w bulbs

They also take a little while to settle in

Please fill out the information in the link in my signature so we can check your husbandry and go from there ;)

The temp at the top i am trying to keep at 25-27 degrees Celsius but i am still trying to get all of the temperatures and humidity right in the vivarium and while i was at work i think his temperature was at 30 Celsius lucky i had a half day and came to his rescue.. Learnt that lesson.. i also have crappy analogue Thermometers and our new digital one came today and is broken and wont read humidity levels.
at the bottom it seems to drop to around 13 or 14.
It is a pain because i have got his daytime bulbs on at night time due to the aquarium over here having so pulse thermometers for the heat emitters.
The humidity Leves i am trying to keep to 60 - 80 % for most of the day and then a light spray at night time so his vivarium is at 50 - 60 % over night.
His Temperature at the moment in the bottom (Where he is) is at 15 Celsius .
I am Worried he has not eaten as i have put baby locusts in there every morning in a bowl on top of greens so the locusts are gut loading in the morning before he catches them in the day, but I'm worried he can not find them. i will find out on friday when he gets his weakly clean.
I am finding it really difficult to keep the vivarium at a constant setting.

Your help is much appreciated
