Baby Melleri Update - 2.5 mo. pics

I have had a few requests for updates, so here goes:

They are nearing the 3 month mark and are doing quite well. A few of them (the largest ones) have developed very prominant nose nubs and all of them have started developing their flaps. They sport amazing colors all the time, varying from the typical baby zebra stripes to varying colors of spotting at night. It has been SUCH a joy watching these babies grow and develop and interact with each other.

They are still all together (a few in each cage) and have been sorted and separated a few times based on their growth rate and temperment. I have housed them the same way I do all of my melleri, just on a smaller scale: Lots of live plants, a lesser wattage spot, UVB and, of course, lots of water. Many have treated their melleri as they would any other montane, but I have found that mine (adult or baby) do better upstairs where it is warmer ambient temps.

Enjoy:

Mama and baby (neither of which were too pleased with me...)

They are PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT! Did I tell you they are perfect :p :)

Looks like you are doing great with these guys! Good Job!

You are doing a great job growing them- they are growing very quickly!

Thanks so much Flux - means a lot coming from you. :)

Last time I checked (which was a couple of weeks ago), they were all between 5 and 6 grams and then there were a couple of the smaller ones that were still at 4. I watch them closely several times per day checking their eyes and manerisms, etc. and they all seem to be doing wonderfully. I did end up with a couple that have had some deformeties, though. I had 2 that were born with kinked tails (one of them passed early on) and another - and I just discovered this this morning - has NO TOES on his left hind foot (outer toes only). I was flabbergasted to see this - but it does not impede his movements in any way, which is good. :D

Great update Julie! They are just SO adorable and all seem to look really good. I love all the sleeping shots, what is it about chams that they are SO cute when sleeping.
