baby flapneck making popping noises from mouth

Hi I have a baby flapneck, I just got him, have had him less than a week and he is making a burping pop noise as he puff up his jugular, i've heard this can be an upper respiratory infection, I'm planning on getting him to the vet if this doesn't clear up, but is there anything I can do?

Until you get him to the vet bump up his temps and swab any mucus out of his mouth with a q tip. I just finished fighting URI so im very careful about it now. My panther had a mild case and i got him on the baytril before he ever got any mucus or bubbles. Make sure hes well hydrated but i wouldn't mist him. IMO drippers are the best to use when they have uri. Set up 2 if you need to. You need to make sure things are dry but still keep them hydrated, especially when they're on the antibiotics or else their livers can fail. Is he still eating on his own? Silkworms really helped my guy stay hydrated while still keeping him dry at the same time. Pm if you have any q's. Hope this helped

The main concern is making sure your chams and their enclosure is dry at night. I have a couple of theory's of how my guy got it.

1. It was my first time taking him outdoors and i took him, basking cage, bugs, and an umbrella plant to a lake and went fishing while he basked. I sprayed him while i was out but i think him being next to the lake was like 100% humidity and it may have been to much. I was there for maybe 4 hrs.

2. At the end of the day i hand sprayed him at home like 1hr before lights went out. I had just gotten new plants so they were very thick (the umbrella plants thin out quickly). He nestled down in the foliage at night and i fear it was wet in the deeper part of the bushes.

DO NOT let your cham go to sleep wet. This was a noob mistake but boy did i learn my lesson. It was a stupid mistake on my part and although the bushes appeared dry at a glance, i should have checked deeper. It was saturday evening and my main vet was closed so i took him to the emergency vet to get some baytril. They wouldnt sell me the baytril without "examining". $120 later ($95 was the exam) i got my baytril and they told me everything i already knew. LOL. But ill do anything for these guys so it was all good. I caught it very very early which was good.

main thing is to make sure your humidity levels stay where they need to be. My misters dont spray after 5pm and the lights go out at 8.

Very unlikely it will go away on its own as its a bacterial infection but keep a close eye and bump up those temps.
