Australian Frilled

I had the pleasure of photographing the extremely rare australian frilled. Very fun photo shoot. Thanks to Taylor for bringing me his amazing animal, and working so hard to piss him off :) He was really rather friendly.
Enjoy!

Nice pics! I owned a pair of these a few years ago and the funny thing was i never could get them to flare their frill. One day i had went to a reptile show with my girlfriends daughter and she bought a feeder chick for a dollar anyway when we got home she was holding the chick when i was feeding the frills they saw this chick and went ballistic i mean they were hissing and jumping with their frills completely stretched! Man i will tell you these things do not like baby chickens! hahaha

Great photos as usual Royden!!!! Hurry up and get to Catherines already!!!!!! I want to see those uthmoelleri:D

Great Photos.....

That dragon looks so cool with the black background.....did he try to bite you or is that all show? I would think that every kid would want one after seeing photos like that. Kids are into prehistoric stuff and that lizard looks like a Dinosaur for sure :)

Aren't they just beautiful?

I was lucky to grow up in Australia and take creatures like this for granted....you would see them and other creatures like this all the time on hiking trips into nature.

Thanks Royden....Your photos are just stunning! I didn't know that these lizards could be kept in captivity and I sure would love one if I could get one :)

Royden those are sick! whenever my friends frilled gets near water he freaks out so its easy to get him to show off his frills haha

For the most part, in captivity, they just dont display like that. Seems to take considerable aggrevation. People complain they look boring (like a closed umbrella) because they just sit there and arnt running about gaping, hissing and frilled up. Lol

What do you mean by 'near water'?

I have a New Guinea frilled and he's awesome!

They are very tame in captivity, that's for sure. I was in Australia,
and even the ones in national parks where there is a lot of human contact,
the wild ones are very time, never frilled up. The wild ones were ferocious though.

I like walking around with my guy on my shoulder, they are VERY sweet lizards,
and make great pets.
