Hello everyone,

I'd like to say thanks to everyone who has helped me with all my questions over the past couple of months.

As promised, I would like to introduce you to Socrates, my Jackson chameleon.

Who needs leaves? Mist is good!

The great hunter on the prowl!

Encloser Pics:

A quick jont for a size camparision

And some close ups

As some of you may know, my posts always have questions :p

How old do you think he is? And does he look healthy?

Thanks everyone for looking!

Looks good

He looks good, but I dont know a whole bunch about the species.
Eyes are filled out and not sunken in and his joints look good.
If I were you...I would put some live plants in that cage.
Jacksons are a montane and need higher levels of humidity.
They also like to drink a lot.
So, a live plant or tow will help get the humdity up, and water beads better on natural plants.
Silk plants dont hold water very well, and it will normally just run off.

I keep telling myself that I'm going to get a Jackson one day!
They were the first chameleon I ever saw and you just got love the horns.
Who dosent love a lizard with horns?
I was going to pick up a pair of Meru from Mike, but the guy with the cages never E-mailed me back.....Tyler! lol

Good luck

Thanks guys!

I do intend to put live plants in. He actually picked the fake plant at the bottom which I was going to replace as his sleeping spot  so I didn't know what to do, but the last couple of nights he has prefered to stay on the branches so I think this may be my chance :D

I have actually never seen him drink off the leaves. No matter how I position the leaves or how much time I spend misting them in front of him or how many gallons of water flow through my dripper, he would just assume drink the mist while I mist him :p. Of course, Just becase I have never seen him do it doesn't really mean anything.

I love Jackson's, too. The horns are awesome. Your's looks very healthy. I'd love to get a pair, but I'd also like some carpets, Nosy Be, dermensis, pygmys.... the list goes on and I only have so much room!!!

I actually got him from a local pet store called the Aquarium, which spealizes in fish and reptiles. He wasn't being kept in the most respectable conditions, but he was far better looking then some chams I have seen at other stores. I would have bought from a breeder, but I really wanted to get a sense for the individual cham's personality before making a purchase.

He is very docile, and has even crawled on to my hand on occasion.

I wish I knew how old he is.

So we finally get to meet Socrates! He's one sexy beast that's for sure.

Age? Couldn't tell you. Judging by the length of his horns I'd say at least a year, but he doesn't look old, old either.

Keep the humidity up and that shed will come off and more importantly, have fun with your new critter!

Cheers,
t
