artificial tree with real wood

i got a fake tree from my church that they were no longer using and have been letting my girl bask on it... she loved it but now that it's summer she gets hot so i rigged it with my garden hose so that it's constantly sprinkling water down. she will go under the leaves where the water drips when she gets to hot then when she has cooled down enough she will go out into the sun and continue basking.... she seems to love it and doesn't want me to take her off.. my yard is fenced in and there aren't any preditory animals other than cats that only come out at night i check her often and she doesn't even attempt to leave the fake tree. what i'm wondering about is the water frm the garden hose, is it okay for her to drink it? she actually refuses to drink any other way and seems to be healthy... at first she would only drink directly from the hose, but now she has gotten comfortable drinking off of the leaves and tree... can any one think of anything that might be unhealthy for my Chameleon? thank you all in advance....

really depends on where you live. Most big cities have some aggressive cleaning chemicals in the water. there are ways around it, you could hook up a carbon filter for your hose, the cartridge is about $20 and the case is another $40

I have used my hose before to mist my cages and my chameleons have never died from that. As far as your little one free ranging in the backyard, please be CAREFUL! We have had members who thought their chameleons would never leave the tree they were sitting in. If you are going to supervise the situation, that is fine. If you are talking about leaving her out there, I would adivse against it. Also, birds will eat chameleons. We have many hawks in our area and I almost had one of mine snatched up even with me sitting there.

yea, i'm in whittier Ca. but there's no hawks around my part of town, there has been talk of owls but i haven't seen any during the day...
