Want to give my Jacksons some natural sunlight but its so stinking hot out here. How high of a temp and for how long can he stay if i maybe put him in the shade under the porch early morning. What do you think? This is him basking he loves it.
I take my chams out but early morning on a patio with misters going the whole time and only for a couple of hrs. This morning I had them out from 7-9:30am and I always watch closely for any signs of heat stress. Keep in mind that Jacksons can not take the heat like panthers or veileds and this time of year I never put them in direct sun.![]()
I do not have misters and ya i never planned on putting him in direct. So should i just avoid it his cage is in front of a window facing north so he gets that light. I have a 10.0 on his cage lifted up about 6 inches so can i just wait till it cools down again in a long few months
You can still take him out....you can buy one of those stand misters at Lowe's that attaches to the end of hose for pretty inexpensive. That would work great pointed at his cage. I am not sure about the 10.0 even raised 6" up. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that on a Jacksons without checking in with a UVB meter. He doesn't get any sun from the window and just make sure he isn't getting too hot in the window this time a year...just keep in mind that jacksons like it cool![]()
Yeah just something like this would work really well and is cost effective
