BUG ARIVAL DAY!

Hi everyone,

maybe I'm just in a happy mood (a rare thing), but it's bug arival day and I'm happyer then my Cham.:D

got some 50 silkworms, 50 supers, and some butters. (200 3/8" crickets too)

never got silks before, sadly they are all too small for my little Splat.
they were about 1/2" - 3/4"...might need to wait a week or so before they are large enough.

the supers look like a good size, but the butterworms look PERFECT!!!!
size, shape, the butters looked wonderful to try.

took out one of the small butters and Splat started doing his Spiderman thing on the top on the cage....not a good sign for feeding.
while he wanted to do his "every other day" workout, I put the worm on a leaf.

BAM...he hit it once my head was turned to get the next one.
I first thought it might have droped to the floor of his cage, but he was "smacking" his lips.

put the next small one on an other leaf....BAM!!!

OMG, he took two without even moving!

"big huge cricket warning" lights are going off in my head as I see a true 1/2" cricket eating some orange....come here my little friend.;)

Splat comes down to the front of the cage to his "feeding spot" that he takes his morning meals from my hands.
he's looking at the spot I had the butterworms at and wondering where they went.

but I have other plans.
Bam!!!....Splat took that cricket like he was starving.
it's only 3pm here and Splat don't eat untill it's 6pm for his second feeding.

an hour goes by and I'm looking at the silkies...
I find two that are almost an inch long.
I put one on the basking branch...he looks at me, he looks at the worm. BAM!
down it goes even though it's small.
then another one only 3/4" in size.

BTW, Splat is getting HUGE. he is growing about 1/4" per week.
he is now 3" NTV. 3 1/4" streatched. 6 1/4" total.

sorry no pictures...Splat was a little scared and I didn't want to bother him more. :(
even got all puffy and fired up for me while all black....while trying to bask under the UVB light.

ahhhh, I remember the first morning that we got up together...
when you were only 2" NTV.

i wouldnt recomend feeding him at 6pm...but other then that nice....lol said bam like 10 times.

"BAM" it was 4 times! LOL

I dont have a 'bug arrival day' as such, I breed my own, but I do get excited at feeding time. I love to watch all reptiles eat! :)

Splat is looking great, he's turning into a monster!:)

Sadly, I have that "Bug day" fetish as well.....

It's like I get excited that the chameleons are going to get excited, about all the wonderful things they now have to eat.....:rolleyes: Meanwhile I'm sitting on the edge of my bed eatting a peanut butter sandwich, while they are eating the equivelant of filet minon of insects. They honest to goodness eat better then I do 95% of the time. Toworrow is "Bug day" at my house.....It never ends...
