Well I am getting one of Janns famous females this weekend. I have been working on setting up the cage and still need to get a plant and another stick to go across the cage but does anyone have suggestions that I may have missed? Let me know please. This is no the first time I have set a cage up lol but this time I want it to be perfect for her liking and mine!

It looks good so far. What size is it? Here's a picture of the cage she's in now SOMETIME althought she hates it and stays on the plant below allot and likes it's very much. :) She loves the hibiscus and eats the leaves.

I set up this tree for the babies so they wouldn't escape. For several hours each day I'd let the babies take turns and play in this tree. I put their small plant pot in a very large one so if they go down they can't get away. I covered the small pot with the plastic chicken fencing so they could crawl back up. When they are outside I'm right there with them every moment.

Jann,
I believe it is 16 inch x 16 inch x 20 inch the smaller repti breeze one. She will soon out grow but I have 2 large cages on order so she will have a new one arriving very soon. She also has a free range tree already for her as well so she can be out of the cage and free some during the day. That is so funny she has already started the I hate being in the cage stage. You took very good care of them and I know how special they all are to you!

yeah I figured it would be okay until the new one arrived. They should be on there way in the next week or so! She won't be in there to long promise!

I am pretty new to chameleon husbandry but nearly every source I read says to ditch the substrate as it is just something else that can end up impacting your chameleon.

Yes, you will need to remove all the substrate at the bottom before the little guy comes.

Also what kind of lights are you using.

This cage is not ready for a chameleon to move in...

That size cage will be ok for a few weeks, at least until the others arrive. I would get rid of the substrate (looks like cocoa fiber?). Obviously a plant is needed, which you mentioned. Something like a nice full pothos or umbrella plant. With that size cage, the pothos would probably be the best bet. She is going to LOVE the free range tree, I know mine do, but they are free all the time anyway. lol

Jann's suggestions, as always, are great!

If that's substrate it will have to go. Veileds eat everything. I can't tell if it's substrate or has a clear bottom sitting on a stool. Can you post more pictures please.

It is substrate so I will get rid of it. I forgot about babies and substrate since I have all older chams now. As for who made the comment of the cage being imcomplete I know this and said we are still working to finish off the cage before arrival. I also know it will only do for a few weeks and have another large cage on order ready but this little girl will be a free ranger most likely from what I have been told and not in the cage very often. Thank you everyone for the help and reminding be about the substrate!

I didn't notice the substrate. It will have to go. I had to put layer of the river rocks in the tops of the plants they were sticking their tongues between the rocks just to get the dirt.

Already on top of it :) On my way to take care of that now!
