I do not yet own a cham, but I am currently monitoring temps and humidity in my reptile room in anticipation of purchasing a panther. Rigth now, it's getting up to 84f at the hottest point of the day. That's great, but this is mild to cool weather.
In the summer, I'd bet that that room hits 95f and maybe higher. The only species I am currently keeping are desert or grassland reptiles like uros and a leopard tortoise. They go outside for a good part of the summer anyway.
Has anyone else had to deal with this issue? What could I do? Do I just need to purchase a window unit AC? Won't that suck the humidity out of the room as well? I intend to install a ceiling fan, but that likely wouldn't be doing much other than moving around hot air.
Would it be possible for me to keep the cham outside all summer? I live in Kentucky, and it can get pretty hot and humid out there as well. Can they tolerate high temps if they have shade?
Thanks for any help.
