Hello all, I am a new chameleon owner. I got my girl Audry in December and after the first week with us she was doing great! Well starting Thursday when I got home from work I found her on the bottom of her cage, which is very out of character for her. She is also not eating which is also out of character.
So some info on her.
She is a female veiled
I am not sure on her age but she has shed twice.( I got her December 29th and she was in her 1st shed )
Cage Is a class case not the biggest but the starter size they have.
Temp is 80F and tropical humidity.
Her diet is crickets and meal worms ( worms are dipped in calcium )
Her belly is a lot fatter than normal

Any help would be great! Thanks in advance :)

Glass cages can work but air circulation is important, stagnant air is not only a breeding ground for bacteria but can cause respitory problems. You need to get rid of the substrate material: it will stay wet and is another bed for bacteria growth, not to mention if your veiled ingest some it could cause impaction in the dietary tract. Temperatures are another concern, best case scenario would be 80-85f. At the top baking area and 72-75f. Down lower in the cage, setting up a temperature gradient so she can find the temp she is comfortable.
Her colors don't indicate she is gravid, but that doesn't mean she isn't, she looks very big in the midsection. You should provide her with an egg laying bin. There is excellent care info on this forum, go to the top of this page and click on " Resouces". Jannb is also an excellent resource on this forum.
