I have a chameleon (Ruthie). She has been lathargic and not herself. Low appetite. She just lays there. I took her to vet Tuesday and I was really surprised to hear Dr. say she was fine. I really disagreed with him but just told myself he knows best. He said she won't lay eggs for another 7 months. He said if she still didn't have an appetite in a few days to go back for an xray. I really want to take her back asap but I don't know if I should just wait a couple more days or go somewhere else. I cleaned out her habitat completely and she seems a little more awake but still doesn't really move around or eat. I made her hiss at me and sprayed some water in her mouth as she did so she can st least have water. I don't know what to do.

This was her as I was cleaning her cage yesterday. Today She seems a bit fat as well but I think it's because she's just laying on rope.

This is her just now. She struggles to move around rope. She wobbles I think because she's weak. Today she is hissing at me at least. Yesterday she couldn't even do that not even to the vet.

No the vet felt for eggs (because I thought she was eggbound) and he said she wouldn't do that until another 7 months. I'm really worried about my baby. :(

Please answer the questions in the how to ask for help thread near the top of the health forum. Please be specific and also tell me how many insects you are feeding her every week.

If she had eggs, would that cause her appetite to decrease? We usually feed her crickets and super worms but vet said yesterday to stop giving her super worms and give her habai roaches??

Well laybin aside, (which is important and I don't disagree with above)

She needs a bigger, more appropriate cage...

An aquarium is not an appropriate cage for a chameleon. Am I the only one who noticed that is a Petco 10/20g aquarium?

I removed most plants from her habitat and have her on soil for now. Going to call vet back tomorrow morning for an appointment.

I don't have her in an aquarium. It's a habitat I purchased at petsmart with her.

Can you show us a pic please?

That's an aquarium, I have a few of the exact same one. "All living things habitat". It's aquarium with a vent on the top side.

It's not an adequate habitat for an aboreal animal.

This is it, is it not?

No it's not that and don't have time to push this

Chameleons are aboreal animals, your Cham needs a cage that is vented, whether chimney effect or screen, and at least 30 inches of usable height.

Push what? I have 4 of those aquariums, and have had or currently have pretty much every glass Vivarium on the market. That is an aquarium, and it is not suitable.

The only company that has that specific vent structure, is the "All living Things" "Aquariums" they can call them what they want, they are Aquariums with a small strip of venting.

All living things, does not make a Viv tall enough for a Chameleon.

Seriously lol... your chameleon looks healthy. As long as she has space and heat and humidity she’s good habitat wise. I honestly am not sure about the symptoms for laying eggs but my baby is shedding right now and is acting weird so i understand the scare. things will go back to normal, fingers crossed for you
