Ants?

Are ants okay for a chameleon to eat? I bought a plant the other day and it was crawling in ants. I cleaned it and got rid of them before giving it to her, just in case, but it got me wondering if they are alright to feed. They're just the medium sized black ones. Just curious!

I wouldnt feed mine even if they were ok. The bite us hard, what if they got a nasty bit on the chams tongue?

Maybe sugar (Black) ants are ok?

i wouldn't cause they will climb onto your chams and bite them i had this problem with sugar ants and still trying to fight to get rid of them.

Ants are a constant battle for me, especially with outdoor cages. Years ago, I had a clutch of baby Veileds and ants kept getting into their cages. At feeding time one day, I just so happened to see one baby zap up an ant and it began violently shaking its head back and forth while rubbing it open mouth and tongue on a branch. Ants have chemical defenses such as formic acid and they aren't too tasty. None of my baby Veileds living outside right now will touch them. I think they all try them at some point at least once, but quickly learn to avoid them.
