Another story about how horrible Petco is...

So I needed an extra fruitfly cup because mine are in between cups and not ready yet so I know petco actually has good fruit fly cultures now (surprising that they can do anything right, I know).

The bad part is I had been in the store a week ago and saw big leopard geckos in with little leopard geckos and though to myself that is a bad situation waiting to happen. The lizards looked half alive of course.

The worse part, I come back a week later to get another fruit fly cup because the one I got was actually producing well. But the leopard geckos were doing even worse. The adults had bitten off all the youngsters tails within a matter of a week.

I myself recently have purchased from a great breeder (magical geckos and tangerine geckos) some beautiful and healthy leopard geckos.

I am pretty much just ranting because I don't have the time to start a civil case with the petco nor the money but it just really pisses me off. There are young children who can easily take care of reptiles why the hell can't a corporation figure out a way to not have tortured animals???

I am no longer going to petco for anything, not even supplies or feeders...

I'm from the uk so the company doesn't affect me but I've seen so many bad things about them, how are they still trading?

Think Petsmart/Pets at Home.

We get some stuff from pets at home, they have some alright locust (if u get them the day they have arrived) and waxworms,i just order feeders online the best way. And I've never ever seen them keep chameleons, they have beardies in the one i go to but thats it, there cage's aren't bad but id like to see how they would house a Cham tho!!

I've seen a dead leopard gecko, all dried up, infront of the display cages at petco before. Its a nasty site, especially for kids that go in there.

Sad thing is, most of their buyers are makeing impulsive purchases due to their little kids wanting a pet "really bad". I remember what its like to be a kid with the idea of getting a new pet. Its all you can dream of, and when your parents say no, your dream is crushed.

I was once a kid wanting a pet also, I got an alligator lizard from petco and it actually did really well under my care. I was given it as a gift though.

I have also seen them house chameleons, they had a jacksons female chameleon in a 1x1x1 cage, it was literally in prison, with pretty much nothing to climb on.

To say the least it really bothered me.

I try not to go to pets at home. The store near me have Leo's and cresties . They don't seem to bad. They used to have birds but they were stopped selling them presumably becaus of bad husbandry. A couple of years ago I was in a reptile shop when they got a call from pets at home. An unknown reptile had been handed in. It was identified as a house gecko. Came home in someone's suitcase. Guess who's got it? I have a viv with 7 in it. It's too cold for them to survive outside here.
