Hi there everyone! We are new to the site and to having chameleons. A quick break-down and introduction. We inherited a pair of Jackson Chameleons from someone who was getting rid of them and quickly. So, we are doing our best and learning on the fly. My son absolutely LOVES Mike and Celia and thinks they are the best ever.

My first question is how quickly do they grow? I can't seem to find anywhere that references a rate of growth for them.

I am pretty certain that we have a male/female pair (Mike has 2 little horns started and Celia does not have any) and I REALLY do not want to be breeding. I know that we need to separate them asap, but they have been kept together until now. I understand that they give birth to live young after about 6 month gestation, how do I know when they've reached sexual maturity?

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance, advice and help anyone has!

Welcome :)
I bet you will find all pieces of info in here if you do some research in forums ;-)
But not to be cruel for the first time- chams grow all their life and if you feed the little ones well, they will shed every 3 weeks (that means they get bigger)... The older ones don´t need so much food so they slow this growth a little.
Don´t you know how old are yours? Or perhaps you could include a picture and someone could guess the age...

If your ''male'' only has two horns, that dosen't sound like a Jackson's. You may have a pair of Fiscer's chameleons. Pictures would help :).

Here is what I have for pictures. I had to go get a couple.
The first pic is my son who is 2 with the male, you can see the nose horn and he has 1 horn over his left eye, but not the right yet.

The second is self explanitory! :D

The third is the pair of them in the cage that they came in. They had been living outside near the front door at the previous owner but here we have them on a covered lanai that has some direct morning sun and afternoon shade. We mist them 5-6 times a day and have added a hibiscus plant to the cage. The tree that is in the picture is a little guava tree.

So, any guesses? I was told Jackson's, a male/female pair and close to 5 months old. But I can't verify age.

Thanks again!!!
