Hello all. I’ve been reading the forums for a while and decided to join a few weeks ago. I don’t own a chameleon yet but I have to say that this is one of the most fascinating forums around. I’ve been onboard other forums for years with my other hobbies but I keep coming back here to read and look at the pictures of these beautiful reptiles. The level of expertise here is also very impressive and I’ve already learned a ton here.

That being said – my only experience with reptiles was having two beautiful female Leopard Geckos I kept from babies to their eventual passing of old age. Now I have two sweet Chihuahuas, Olive who is 9 years old and Harley who is 4 and adopted from a shelter. We also lost our 15 year old Lhasa Apso Minni just before Christmas. She had Cushing’s disease for several years and that really took a toll on her little body. We miss her dearly.

Anyway, for some reason I’ve always been fascinated with chameleons but never really locked into the idea of keeping one. I’m sure I could do it and I have no problem committing to the routines and health care needs of my pets. I’m doing some renovating around the house (I’m in Michigan) right now so maybe a in a month or so when I’m done, have more time and have done lots more reading on the forum I’ll set up a habitat for a cham and decide what type to get.

I’ll stop right here…probably TMI anyway :) Thanks for such a great place to hang out!

Welcome to the forums, officially! You are doing the right thing by reading and researching before committing to a chameleon. Finish your renovations (and let the paint dry, if you are doing that), and then it's time for the fun part! Also, thanks for adopting - both my cat and dog are from shelters as well. Feel free to ask questions - we're all pretty friendly around here. Good luck!
