We got another dog to give my current puppy someone to wrestle with. The new one is an AKC Bullmastiff named "Daisy." She's almost a year old now. They get along great, bug eachother all the time and they cuddle at night. The new one is on the right (lighter color) and my current dog "Bella" on the left (Bullmastiff & Bordeaux cross).

Naw, bullmastiff females should max out around 110lbs according to the breeder and most dog sites: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/bullmastiff.htm. I didn't want anything much bigger than that, which is why I decided on bullmastiffs. Right now, they're about 70 and 80 pounds at 11 and 7 months old (the younger one I had before is bigger). They're pretty mellow in the house, but if you're standing still very long, they will come up and lean on you, and it feels like a bag of sand pushing against your leg. It's pretty funny. They've knocked my 5 year old over several times each, but he's getting used to it, and now he pushes back.

Tryme - That's right, I do like these UK dogs! For anyone that can handle a dog this size, I highly recommend bullmastiffs. We'll probably breed this new girl once when she gets some more size on her 8 or 10 months from now.

I love the leaning-my Great Dane does that, or if you are sitting still long enough he plops his rear end down on your lap! A 150 lb lap dog-and he still has some growing to do! Your girls are beautiful Tyler! Have fun with them!

thats going to be one hell of a security system

No Kidding Man... Those are some big pups. I love Mastiffs...

Not to put anything negative along with these beautiful animals by any means(as we know that it is stupid people who give these animals a bad rep and no fault of the animals.... But did you hear about what happened with Ving Rhames' guard Mastifs last year? His long time care taker at his home here in Hollywood was found killed by his Mastiffs in the front yard. Something was fishy... Knowing the temperment and behavior of these dogs... And knowing that this was the person who was responsible for feeding and caring for these dogs for years while Ving was away, the dogs had to be familiar with this guy. I dont think those dogs would have done what they did unless there was some kind of abuse taking place, or maybe mistaken identity maybe?. These are dogs that learn to bond with the people who are around them, If they turn on you it is for a reason. Maybe he had abused them, maybe he looked like an intruder... but dogs dont just turn violent like that without a trigger. As an animal lover I hate it when things like this happen cause to often we will ignore why it happened and put a bad mark on the rep of these animals. I thought this was so crazy when I heard it.

Edit: Sorry if my horrible story ruined the atmosphere:eek:... Beautiful new pup Tyler.. They look very Happy together.

I do remember hearing something about that, I think I was searching for videos of bullmastiffs a few months back and came across it. If I remember right, though, the guy died on the other side of a closed gate than the dogs, like they attacked him and he got away (and died 15 feet away?). I wouldn't think he'd be able to get away from the dogs. Also, I remember something about how easily it was for the police or animal control to take the dogs away, like they were peaceful. I don't remember much, but it did seem odd to me too. Anyways, I've seen nothing but peaceful out of my two so far. The guy I got this new one from said she "doesn't put up with sh*t from other dogs," but she's been fine so far.

Tyler,

Yeah from the beggining I knew that there had to be something else going on with that story... Just to many things that didn't seem right. Maybe this was just Marcellus Wallace trying to come up with a clever cover.

I have always had what some would consider "vicious" dogs, I've kept Pits, Boxers, and I actually also used to have a Huge Doberman/Rotweiller Mix, and I can say IMHO, the tempermaent of the dog comes completly from how they were raised, and what they have been through. Every single one of my Dogs was gentle and never once showed a sign of aggression, (the pit was aggerssive with other dogs occasionally, only when she was on leash.) You've got two big bitches there!!! She seems to enjoy Bella's Company.:)

Unfortunately Justin, no.... you'll have to over compensate like Tyler and get not only one huge dog, but two... ;)

Updated Photo

I got this updated picture of "Daisy" a few nights ago. She was kinda pushy at first and still actively tries to eat any animal under 20 lbs, but we're working on her and things are improving. She's a great looking dog either way, I think. Maybe I'm just biased :D
