another escape artist story.

So earlier today I left for work around 12 20pm to go to work, was sort of in a rush to get my 3.5 month old panther all set up bfore i left got home shortly before 4. some background information I still keep him in a 95L tote until he gets bigger. I often dont cover up the top usually just over night and sometimes I put a small portion of screen to filter out some of the uvb from the bulb. What I did not realize today was there were some strands of wire from the screen like this IMG_20140518_160433.jpg that reached a little to far into the enclosure. could only think of that as an escape route. IMG_20140518_165954.jpg this was after I had cut the strands but will help detail his escape. IMG_20140518_170020.jpg made it to the other side of the light fixture who knows if it was under over or around. I kinda thought over. thank god its not a basking fixture and is not too hot to the touch. from the other side of the light fixture we have this IMG_20140518_170035.jpg that other screen that is thicker I like to use that to hold a dripper whenever i need. Lastly this is where i found the sneaky little bugger was on this screen beside the tote IMG_20140518_170045.jpg this is what i use to help cover the top. also not quite sure how he made it across that gap but dont get these things any benefit of the doubt

a few things that have worried me is the light fixture and which way he actually got to the other side of it. the thicker screen is galvanized hardware cloth which from my undersanding can sometimes be sharp or contain iron or something that may not be healthy. lastly since the hardware close is cut into pieces the ends can be a bit on the sharp side IMG_20140518_170040.jpg hope none of which have cause any injuries burns or what not. only other concern was that he felt a bit cold, dont think he was out very long seemed like he had actually just got onto the last screen recently, all in all if hes all good was a pretty funny scenario was freaking out when i got home and couldnt find him than seen the dangling strands and thought to myself nooooo way its too small or he be too heavy but did a look around anyways and instantly spotted him pheww

i know had a little freak out moment before i seen him. doubt he'd go very far i have never once seen him step food on any sort of flooring, in his enclosure hes always climbing around on my bed has never walked on my bed just climbing my arms

Ah! The joys of cham ownership. These chams about cause my heartaches more than the kids did.

But you had a happy ending so all is well.
