We all know the petco/petsmart deal and how most times the chameleons are badly taken care of. But today when I was getting some red wrigglers and crickets I walked past their reptile section and they had two vields with a Jackson chameleon. No one looked happy about the situation. One of The vields had its eye shut and the Jackson chameleon was puffed and scared of it. I used to know one of the workers there and they would change stuff If pointed it out to them. But they don't work there anymore. And none of the people who work there now seem to care. I just feel really feel bad for those guys. More so the Jackson who puffed every time one of the vields moved. It's really sad.

For them pet stores reptiles are just like fish... They mostly simply don't care if one dies other than losing some income.
Instead of prohibiting the owning of certain animals, like they are doing here (EU/Netherlands), they should prohibit the sale of these animals by normal pet stores and make it exclusive to breeders and specialized stores.
This will eliminate most of the impulse sales, most of the improper housing in stores and it will leave the new owner better informed when purchasing from a specialist.

But yea, as long as people not living in our 'universe' that do not share our passion get to call the shots no good solutions are offered other than just making the owning of certain animals illegal.
So right now animals suffer from these pet stores, then a 'solution' comes along that makes the hobbyists suffer...
