My friend has an EXTREMELY aggressive panther chameleon, he is def cage aggressive but once you get him out of the cage he settles down really nicely! But getting him from the cage can prove very difficult, he bites, hisses, lunges, and even throws the occasional round-house kick! My friend has had him for about 6 months and until recently never had the urge to handle him! After about a week of daily handling, you can put your hand in the cage without him flaring up or hissing! If you go to close to him he still lets you know he's uncomfortable but he's becoming more tolerant daily! I def agree with the hand feeding technique but also just letting him get use to daily activity and movement of your hand in the tank before directly handling the chameleon! Yo def have to earn a little trust before a nasty one will just let you try and take him out! A panther bite is NO joke i personally believe its more painful then my savanah monitors! with the exception that they don't shake their heads when they bite down! But most panther's are big babies once outside the "Comfort Zone" of their cage which i believe they defend as their territory, and food source like they would do in nature!

My male veileds the same, same age too roughly, he is fine when he is on my hand, when i clean him out its the only time he gets a bit angry but once he is out he is fine. other than cleaning his viv out, i dont handle him as he obviously does not like it,i just accept thats the way he is,

I'm the same way. I hand feed regularly and give him plenty of hiding spots if she needs to be alone. If my hand enters her cage without any food then she'll show her disapproval even a foot away. At times I have to do some cleaning and she is gently tricked into moving onto my hand. Once she is out of her enclosure she is completely content. When she is in her enclosure its a completely diffrent attitude. Sometimes you just have to respect their space and admire from a far.

No it's just he's almost never gonna be able to handle it or even touch it so it's almost ad of he has no chameleon. Super boring all he cam do is just look at it.. Still better than nothing but I'm just saying.

I think the majority of ppl on this forum bought their chams to do just that, LOOK at them. Even if the cham could be handled, that would only be an extremely small percentage of the time anyway.... so this actually doesn't change much.

I have an extremely aggressive male veiled, amazingly beautiful turquoise and yellow, but Mr. Hateful @ss all the way! My female was that way when I first got her, but with very patient hand feeding she will know let me do whatever I need to do cleaning wise without the slightest hiss and I swear she knows what the Phoenix Worm container looks like because she'll meet me at the door! I take my chams out once every two weeks for "close" medical inspections and other than that, just when I do the once a month top to bottom sanitize cleaning. I have come to the conclusion that my male will never, ever "like me." He will rarely hand feed, and when I take him out to clean/inspect, I do it with gloves. And guess what - I am perfectly content to just "boringly watch him" - every single day!!

The chameleon who sexpanther is referring to before is actually my little aggressive monster lol. While he has definitely become more used to me, he definitely isn't happy when I'm in there cleaning or trying to take him out. What is the fun in a boring submissive chameleon? I may be weird but I find it kind of fun that I have to be on my game when I need to take him out. I love handling him but just coming home from work and watching him roam around and eat is a nice stress reliever. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

the other day was the most 'aggression' i've seen out of mine. I have a screened in porch and I let him on a ficus out there, it was nice and sunny with a little breeze.

he was enjoying it for a while, then i looked out my window to check on him and he was extremely puffed out with the very top part of his body (head to tail) turned black. a minute later he was back to normal though.

i shower with mine, why even my new male KnoKnut who was so feisty when i first got him 10 days ago who hiss and spit and lounge at me if i even came near , now he comes to me and lays his head in my hand and pushes his nose to smell me, he wants me to hold him, what i do is i take my hand and cover his lil face so he cant see and this quites them, then i will pull him into my haert area and let him listen to my heartbeat, that usually will make them change right quick, i love handelin my Chams, both of them, and yes, i cuddle with my luv bugs cause they think i am their mate; its way beyond awsomeness when ur cham really smiles and luvs ya; and i think it's important to bond, i can usually tell when one or the other wants to move around and bond with me, on a daily basis I handel my chams cause they are so soft snd silky feeling, incerdable, who wants to miss out on that, why mine even like to car ride and both go outside regularly. they live with me not in a cage but are here to interact with and that is very rewarding, actually even my feisty male came around really fast, ya gotta keep at it with coaxing and open cage doors, wear soft kid leather gloves at first, just till he gets used to ur hand then it's a breeze, remember once he is on ur hand take ur other hand and just cover his face and pull him unto ur heart so he can hear ur heartbeat; sound funny to you, try it, i specilize in animal reiki . below a pic of both mine living with me
