Amy is receptive!

I am pretty sure that Amy is receptive at the moment. I had thought she would be due to lay her second infertile clutch next weekend and put her laying box in a few days ago. Yesterday she caught sight of Tommy, and instead of her usual violent reaction (gaping, going dark and rocking) she just sat there and showed no reaction at all! Also, yesterday was the first day in a long time that she didn't go straight for her crix ar feeding time.

What I would like to know now is how long before she will lay this infertile clutch? I presume that she may stay receptive for a while - how long for? I realise that there are probably no hard and fast answers to this, I just want to be as ready for her laying as possible.

Aww Pictures please! :). I know that when I got Delilah, that she was receptive just about two weeks after I got her and she was on and off last year from (June on) and she didn't develop eggs until January of this year. I hope she lays well for you!

She may not lay. I have also read it could be 30 day. Lizbeth always tells me just the sight of a male could cause the female to lay a clutch.

Tiff I don't have any answers. The few times I had receptive girls they were off to meet the boys.:) Just hang in there, one more think to go through with your kids. I do understand why you aren't going to breed, & I do agreed you are doing the right thing. But Amy & Tommy babies would sure be some show stoppers. I will just dream them for me.:D

Yayyy... maybe there will be Amy babies!!! Tommy's a looker too. Best of luck :)
I have good reason not to breed (as much as I would LOVE to) - I live on a small Island and finding enough satifactory homes, let alone good homes would be very difficult. Amy laid 81 eggs in her first clutch and I have no room for even one more vivarium, let alone a whole room full if I couldn't find them homes for them all. It's just not really an option for me, sadly. Plus I would feel far too responsible for them and would worry constantly once they went to new homes. I love my chameleons so much and it breaks my heart to see any that are not being cared for properly, and I just couldn't bear it if that happened to any of my babies.

If Veileds laid smaller clutches then I would definitely breed them. I had thought about just keeping a few eggs and hatching them but I would feel incredibly guilty about dumping the others.:( Also, in 9 months from now I will not be able to take holiday at work and I would want to be at home for at least the first week to make sure they are all ok!

She has actually scratched at her door to be let out today and she hasn't done that for a long time. :D She is also very active and roaming quite a bit, which also is not like her! She is however looking very beautiful! I will post some pics later.
