Hello every one! I have been lurking for awhile now and just recently joined. I have been sucking up information every night for the past year until my brain might implode! But every night I continue to lean something new.
I know that chameleons are a relatively advanced reptile, I would do my research. So like I said before I have been doing research since February 2013. I want the best care for my animals. I hate people who buy on impulse, or can't take care of their animal. So needless do say I feel pretty confident on owning a chameleon for the first time.
I have a 19 x 19 x 40" repatarium for him, he is a 5 month old blue bar ambilobe panther chameleon. I have a 100 watt reptisun lamp for him that admits heat and uvb also. His basking is 85-95°F, a warm area of 80°F, and a cool area of low 70°F. Night time dips go down to mid to low 60s. The humidity in the summer would never drop below 80%. Winter never below 60%. I have a large pothos for him including lots of fake foliage for him to feel safe. I would have a gallon dripper that would run 2-3 times a day to said in humidity and so he doesn't dehydrate. I have branches that I have sterilized that give him full access to his cage. And then this brings be to dusting feeder insects. I would be feeding him crickets the first few months, until my dubia roach colony gets established. I know do dust with plain calcium with no d3 every feeding until he is an adult then I only have to dust every other feeding or every three feedings. But I don't know when to do dust with multivitamins, or d3. Any one willing to share would help subsantataly. I live in Wisconsin so he would be outside for a good amount of the day but not all of it. And in the winter that's kinda hard for him to be outside without freezing to death. So I know that I would have to supplement him with d3 in the winter. And how many crickets/dubia roaches would he eat daily. I know to let him eat till he's full but how much should I expect? Thank you for reading this and let me know if I need to change anything. I have not got him yet so I can change soon enough, thank you gain, Carter.
