Am I a grandma or not?

My very gravid female dug a complete tunnel today in her soil. She started about 1pm today and didn't quite until about 6pm. I went to the store and came home and found this laying on top of the soil...it is an egg? It's pretty slimey, but I don't want to squeeze or handle it for fear of injuring it. Aren't they supposed to be more white if they're fertile? (She and the male copulated on July 6th...18 days ago.) She is still VERY lumpy so I think if this is an egg, it's her first one. Please help, I'm like a nervous relative right now!

So, 3 important questions;
1. Does it look like a newly layed healthy egg?
2. If it is an egg, why didn't she bury it?
3. Once the process starts, how long does it take for her to lay all of them? (Right now she is up on a branch like maybe she's taking rest?)

Its not an egg. She shouldn't lay one egg here and there anyhow....she should dig the hole, turn around and lay all the eggs, fill in the hole and go back up into the branches.

Don't let her see you watching her while she is digging.

Thank you. I know I am just too excited! I guess for now I will have to be grandmother of a piece of poo.

1. Looks like poop to me also.
2. Like Kinyonga said she should dig the hole, burry the eggs, cover it up and go back up top.
3. It depends. It ususally takes my panther a couple of hours. She is good and digs righ at the side of the container so it is easier. They do button up the hole very very well. It is actually amazing to me because you cant tell they were digging in there at all. Ive come home and she is all dirty and every thing is covered up. If you know she was digging I would excavate and find the eggs. 18 days sounds a little early to me but I only have one pair of panthers and the female is pretty routine with how she does things. The female should look deflated after done. If she did dig and not lay the eggs there could be something wrong with the laying contents or like kinyonga said dont watch or they might abandon the hole. If she only laid half I would be worried and get her to a vet. Hope this helps
