Almost threw these eggs out

I still have some Oggie/Green bean eggs from a retained clutch laid on August 3rd 2008.
They don't look like much and I almost tossed them the other day, but they weren't moldy or totally shriveled up and I have room in the incubator so I left them.
Today, exactly one year after they were laid, I find this in the container.
Oggie and Green Bean were never mine. I was given these eggs and another clutch in March.
I have had these eggs incubating at 80 degrees since I got them.
Just goes to show you .... if there is any possibility that a clutch is viable ... don't toss the eggs! (even after a year!)

True that Brad! And congrats on the lil cutie! thats awesome man, too bad that some ppl do give up... Happy the little guy is in good hands! :)

Brad, I know of a guy who says that he still has carpet eggs that are 18 months old. Once in awhile one will hatch. As long as the eggs look good he will keep them.

Congratulations on the Patience is a Virture moniter :D

EDIT: Talk about wierd! Here is a post on another forum (PNWHS) of the guy I was telling you about. It took 2.5 YEARS! He posted this yesterday.

His name in Darren Meyer and Dendrobates is his thing.

I got a trio of w/c carpets 2 1/2 years ago . They laid right after I recieved them . 13 eggs in total from the 2 girls . 6 hatched out within 6 months (all died before 4 month in age ) 3 eggs went bad . The last 4 have still looked good so I never tossed them out . Today while doing some cleaning in the frog room I decieded to check the eggs . And I found a lil one scampering around in the media with the remaining eggs ! I was told not to throw them away unless the eggs went bad , but 2 1/2 years ! It has to be some kind of record .....
The eggs have gone through atleast 4 cool down periods .
Any tips for you all as how to keep the newest lil guy alive would be great !
Thanks ,
Darren

Sometimes a diapause can last for a very long time. Never seen it much with veilds though all the veilds i hatched were all around six months. I did just had a clutch of ambilobes hatch last week and they were laid 3/8/09 thats got to be the shortest i've seen. Jim from chameleon company gave me some tips on how to break egg diapause guess it worked and they are some really big neonates too.

I had something similar happen to me, too. I think it was a 2nd clutch from one mating and after about a month or so, all (I thought) had sunken and just plain looked bad. I didn't throw them out, but did take them out of the incubator and they were just sitting on a shelf in the chameleon room. Then one day months later, I happened to take a look and there was probably 5-6 neonates running around!

It's not a year or 2 1/2 years !!! but another "don't throw any eggs out unless they're black and moldy little pebbles" case.
