I have a really hard time with the little, 1/4" crickets. I lose them throughout the house all the time. I have a really hard time catching them without squishing them. I have small pieces of egg crate in their container so that I can just shake off what I need, but they still manage to get away sometimes and once they're in the open, forget it. I either crush them or can't keep up before they climb under something.

How does everyone handle their baby crickets? Is there an easier way to get them from their container, to the dusting cup, to the chameleon cage? I have the hardest time transferring them to the chameleon's cage after dusting them because I don't want to just dump the excess powder into the cage.

And I swear they're all suicidal and purposefully aim for the water...

Transfer them to a larger container along with the piece of egg carton. When ready to use, shake the egg carton into a deep deli cup. Dust and feed.

I use a kid's bug vacuum. I bought it on Amazon.com. It works really well on small crickets. I can even get 1/2 inch crickets, if they're on the smooth plastic of the bin.

I found that carpet slows them down. Just be careful that if you do dust them over carpet to not spill any of the power onto the carpet(it is a pain to get out). If they do escape and fall onto the carpet, they will try to run and bury themselves at the same time. Just scoop them up with your hand carefully.
