cage-24"-24"-48" screen cage.
Lighting- A zoomed powersun 160w and a 100watt night red bulb (both on in day and only the red at night.
Temps- 88f is the hottest basking area-the rest of the cage is 75-83.(zoomed digital temp)
Humidity-mistising 2-3 times a day(no humidity reader)
Plants-Exo terra fake benjaminas etc. no real yet
Placement-Cage is in the kitchen with 2 other herps. A ceiling fan above that is rarely on and vents close by. moderate traffic in the kitchen yet only 2 people in house. top of cage is 6 feet off the ground.
Chameleon-Sambava Female Panther. 4-6 monthes? (look on my profile pic and inform me please) had no more than 30 days.
Handle-every other day(few minutes)
Feed-Crickets-6-12 per day lightly dusted and gutt loaded with bites. occasional meal or super worm dusted with minerall.
Dusting-Frequent ( I was told since she is young) sticky farms minerall indoor.
Water-Dixie cup dripping and 2-3 times misting. Does drink.
Poo- Black/White. Seems to be very clean and not go too much.
Other info-I was first going to get an ambanja who was placed to the right of my sambava(seperate cages.) However was instructed to pick the sambava who did not have an eye problem which they had recently found out the ambanja did and was going through treatment.
Problem-Left eye seems to be shut most of the day and right eye is fine. Left eye when open seems to be a little more oval shaped.
I'm not sure about your lighting.....someone else will have to help with that. Where do you live? Do you have a vet for your chameleons? I would try a nice warm shower and get her to the vet on Monday. Usually a closed eye is a sign that something's wrong......besides just the eye.
i just noticed also that your using the dusty indoor minerall.
you might be overloading her on d3 mineral if you only use that to coat. check the packaging to make sure.
you should have two powder coating materials.
calcium w/d3 which is used at most 2x a month
and calcium w/out d3 on every feeding or every other feeding.
a vitamin powder can be used occasionally.
if your heating lamp is a dual cross with UVB, its better to do seperate, at least as far as i know, i don't know a whole lot about lights.
as i said a 60 watt house bulb + reptisun 5.0 18" tube lamp is the ideal light settings for almost all chams.
Do your house temps drop below 60 at night? If not no light or heat at night. It is better to heat a room then a cage, and night heat can be very drying. Get some real plants in the cage to help with humidity and get some Terramycin. If her eye does not open after using the Terramycin for several days, a vet visit is in order. Make sure you adjust your supplement schedule and that you are not offering shake and bake coated crickets-over coated feeders can cause eye irritation.
