my Cham was recently diagnosed with coccodia and pinworms. i have read posts talking about how albon can cause adverse side effects. well that is the problem.he was on albon last week, now he barely eats, his poop is runny and he is not very active. is there anything i can do to help him through this? i have allready doubled his misting time.

it has been a week since last dose. if his checkup is positive i will use to good stuff(ponziril).what can i do now to help him recover from albon?

Hey Griz,

First the obvious...

NO MORE ALBON

water , water , water... Also if he is not eating and loosing weight you will have to consider force feeding. Do you weigh him?

Wax worms may be a good thing to induce his eating when he decides to again.

Here is a recipe for bug juice that may be helpful.

You said above that he barely eats... thats a lot better than not eating. So you have a positive there.

I also wanted to mention that sanitation is going to be very important.

Gloves between handling and cage cleaning. You may want to replace the plants and boil any sticks, vines, basically anything in the cage. And disinfect the cage. I use a steam cleaner.

If the Albon did work. Risk of cross contamination and reinfection are high. You should make sure any fecal matter is cleaned up right away. Were you cleaning during treatment?

Do you cup feed? Feeders can be a problem until everything is cleaned up really well.

yes i cup feed exept silkies or supers. i also use steam cleaner. i wash my hands with dial complete foam between touching crickets, cleaning or any task involving poo. i also make sure there is no crix poo in feeder cup by only putting a few at a time and removing cup after feeding to be cleaned. i have been leaving his dripper on 24/7. when he was taking meds i kept him in his old smaller cage and totaly cleaned the bigger one with steamer. i moved his cage out of reptile room till i can be sure none of them have any parasites.

Keep him well hydrated as Ryan said and also give him some NutriBAC and that should make his tummy feel better and he should start eating again soon. It took over 3 weeks for mine to eat on his own again with the NutriBAC after using Albon. Also are you using Panacur for the pinworms? The Albon will do nothing for the pinworms. Jann

yes panacur also. i will look for that, is it powder or liquid? ive been putting calcium or vitamins on his few crickets that he eats. is that allright?

Thats awesome news. Most of my guys won't cup feed. They love the hunt. Sounds like you have a handle on things already. I just hate seeing the name Albon. Shivers run down my spine. :D

Good thing is if you need to use Ponazuril you will not have any adverse side effects. It is very simple compared to the pain Albon can be.

Have you tried Reptaid https://www.chameleonforums.com/reptaid-new-organic-anti-17262/

I was very pleased with the results. My Melleri and a Female Ambanja I was treating are doing very well. It has a positive effect on their health.

I was just going to suggest that very same thing.

i would try that but now he is eating,(free range only,)tonight i hand fed him one crix at a time. i set them on vines gradualy farther away. he went after them and ate them. i moved the drip system right by him and he started to drink. i think i will wait till he is a little heathier before i do the panziril thing. the vet called to do checkup, i told her about his condition. i also asked for panziril. she didnt know of it. if i get this stuff does anyone have a doseage sched? Morken is 6 months 115 grams.

Print out the thread and give it to the vet. Contact info for the place that caries it is in the thread and all the info about it.

Bottle Reads 0.1 ML BY MOUTH DAILY FOR 3 DAYS THEN OFF FOR 7 DAYS , 0.1 FOR 3 MORE DAYS

30MG/ML SUSPENSION

(for 100 g animal) would be:

.1kg x 30mg/ml divide by 30mg/kg = .1ml

or

1/2 of .1 (or 1 drop) for 50g

etc

Update; today i was off work, i fed morken 3 supers and 5 crix, i also tricked him into drinking by pinning a crix to side screen with hemostats, then i wetted the crix when he tounged all he got was water. i finaly let criket go so he could catch. it seemed to work allright. his poo is back to normal soild, dark no orange.

update

after all that trouble the stuff(albon) didnt even work. his latest fecal float came up positive. i purchaced a bottle of reptaid the other day just incase. this morning i injected a dubia. it was easier than i thought. he ate it quickly and without too much splatter. i hope this Reptaid stuff works better, cant be as bad as albon. that crap blows! i plan on doing 10+ days and then once a month. do you think this will be allright? if this doesnt work im gonna try ponzuril.
