Ok - here's the rules of the contest! I'm holding back a male and female from the above picture. Whoever can come up with the BIGGEST male veiled wins. I will send the female to you (or meet up or something), to mate with the giant male, and you send her back after she's done with him. I incubate the eggs, we split the babies equally!
I got a nice, big, orange and mean-as-hell FL wild caught. He's over 18" (Pretty sure he's between 19 and 21"), but I cannot get a good measurement, as he hates measuring devices almost as much as he hates me. He really really hates me. He's ugly as hell during the day in his reptarium, but his natural colors are nearly as nice as my old male (above). I think when I move him to a screen cage, up higher, it'll help. I had to do the reptarium, as he was all over the screen at first, and the metal was tearing his (already damaged) nails apart.
So he's getting crossed with the old man's offspring as soon as she comes back into season (recovering form a conjunctivitus issue). I would LOVE to work out a cooperative breeding project with someone with a PRIME bloodline.
Size varies tremendously in the clutches - I have had some males reach 12" in TOTAL length, and some reach 19" - in one clutch. The interesting thing is that the coloration seems to be very solid - very little variation in a given clutch, save a few with incomplete yellow bars, like the male in the pic above. I'd say, all but one or two of his hundreds of offspring have had solid yelow bars on both sides.
It's hard to get really good breeders, as you dont' know for sure until they're adults. IF we work together, as a commnity, it would be much much easier - and faster - to get the desired results.
