Hi Guys,

I am thinking about buying a couple of air purifiers for home use. I suffer allergies and I've heard the air purifiers really help. Is anyone of you using it at home, how do you like it?

Any brands recommended? I am thinking about getting a Rabbit Air, but wanted to ask first, since they are not cheap and I have to buy it in the USA.

Hi,

All my childhood I had asthma and none of the air purifiers we have now were available back in the day. My asthma triggering allergies to dust, pollen and other particle factors and mold have subsided until recently when we started up some seeds to put in the garden for the summer. The upper layer of the pots got moldy and I had severe respiratory reaction very recently. I knew how to handle the reaction and that's the only reason I didn't go to the ER. -- well, I also hate hospitals.

So, I started looking at the options, read reviews. I decided on the "Honeywell 50250-N Permanent True HEPA Air Purifier" after comparing with various other models in sub $500 price range. I can say that this is a very capable cleaner. It's a simple unit, less parts to malfunction and inexpensive. And best of all, it has a permanent filter. You don't have the throw away any filters and buy new ones (the cost adds up). Every once in a while (2-3 months) you vacuum clean it. There are many models out there. The quality of the output air you get doesn't differ between filters. Only remember this: It must be a True HEPA filter model. Not HEPA-like, not HEPA-type.

The unit I bought it not the most silent model, but it's ok in the lowest setting. In the highest setting, it can be loud, but can clean a large room in no time.

Hope this was helpful.
