Age to start taking showers

At what age should I start giving my Chameleons showers. I do currently mist the enclosures. But I would like to know what age they can start to take showers on a plant in the shower with the water spray bouncing off the wall to get overspray on to them. Currently my Veileds are 2 1/2 months and my Sambava is 4 months. Thank you for your advice :)

If you really want/need to shower them I think theyre are old enough. Just make sure they are not in direct stream, temps are comfortable and there is no danger of them going into the drain ect. I have never showered my chameleons unless there is an apparent reason too but thats just me. I used to take my carpet chameleon cages into the bathroom and shut the door when I would shower myself. Id make it really hot and steam the place out though.

If you mist you really don't need to give them showers.....

If you do choose to give them showers the water temperature should be withing a few degrees of room temperature and not be aimed directly at the chameleon. Most people aim the shower nozzle towards a wall in the shower and place a plant near the wall.

When I shower the babes, I put the temp to luke warm or a few degrees warmer (when it's bouncing off cold/cool tiles), turn the head towards the wall and fiddle with the plant until no direct stream hits it, only the bounce back spray from the wall... and then the cham goes in and I watch it from through the shower curtain... if it falls or climbs off the plant, I go and return it or at least keep an eye on it.

And yes, your chams sound old enough to me too, just be very careful... the shower spray is a lot stronger to them than to you and a direct hit could knock off young chams!

Moto Mister

I have a Moto Mister and it kicks butt! I mist his(Panther, 9 months old) enclosure and within minutes he is opening and closing his mouth. He actually moves into a nice misting position and enjoys it. I get the mister far enough away so it is not to strong and than I try to time my shots with the opening of his mouth he likes drinking it from the air! Only downfall: you have to be careful not to drown the pray in his feeder cup.

i have a question.

I have given my 10 month old Veiled a shower a few times. He seems to enjoy it , especially after basking for a bit.

I have noticed that the water beads off him like water on a ducks back. But my 3 month old Ambanja gets saturated when i mist his cage. It may be because he is close to a shed, but are younger Chams supposed to get like soaked-in wet?

The only time I give showers is if I have someone that's dehydrated or having eye problems. I do however often mist in the shower stall.
