Advice before i jump in

Thank for the replies everyone. I appreciate all the insight and advice. i'm definitely going to purchase all my equipment online and most likely my chameleon too.

I don't have any photos right now, but I would recommend:

It's the chameleon forums of the reefing world!

Haha be careful on the website. Reef tanks can be just as addictive as chameleons. Reefcentral actually uses the same interface as this form which will make it really easy to navigate. Thats why i felt right at home navigating this forum. Ill see if i can find some pics of my 93g SPS cube or 125 reef if anyones interested.

I'm still set on getting a veiled and have seen some "blood line" babies on a few sights. Would it be worth investing more into a blood line cham to increase the odds of vibrant markings?

Bloodlines make the baby! You definitely get what you pay for.

Of the two, I might say chams are even more addictive! Though it's really a toss up!

So i've been hunting around and i think i've found a decent deal. Of course i'm new to this so i want to run it by the experts. Theres a place online (chameleon kingdom) thats offering a small cage package, complete with everything except foliage, and a 3mon panther for $155 for the kit, $165 for the male panther + 10% off, and free shipping. Is this deal to good to be true? I don't want get screwed being a noob and all.

Two things: 1.) post a link 2.)get a male (in panthers the females don't have the bright coloration)

The deal is ok- I'm unfamiliar with some of the product line. The cage you will grow out of fairly quickly, you may want to go the size up (I didn't see a maker for the cages, I use reptibreeze); and the bulb for basking will probably need to be increased; Oscar looks like he would be a decent bloodline, but I would ask for a photo of the females sire if available.

If you look around you can probably find similar deals- this looks like it has most of what you need though. Decor can get pricey though, just a warning...

I say indulge in the selection process, savor it, find the coolest chameleon for you, learn about it, then find a breeder and get it!
