Achmed update

It's been a little while, but I had asked for help with a new veiled that was given to me by a frustrated owner.

I'd like to report that he is doing much better!

At first I misted him twice daily and set up a water bottle mist. I got rid of their compact and put in a linear UV. It still seemed as if his eyes were bothering him and he wouldn't eat much.

Finally I moved his cage to my screened in back porch. It's very shady and I take him out in the natural sun everyday (one of the benefits of working from home). Outside I can mist him with a warm water hose plus the temps and humidity seem to work out perfectly for him.

He looks less dehydrated and his appetite has returned. His eyes are opened all the time and actually look around!

Thanks for all the help that was offered and the info I've gleaned from the site.

Aww! Glad he's feeling better! It's great to hear when someone has had success with nursing a cham back to health! It must be so rewarding for you to see the change in him. Do you have any before and after photos?

before photo...He has a history of MBD, so his little legs are bowed.

Photo taken today...I don't know if you can see the difference. In the previous pic, his eye was closed and was all hunkered down. this morning his was climbing around and tried to bite the camera. His eyes still look far away in his skull. Maybe he needs to fatten up? I'm not sure how much to feed him. He used to only eat every 2-3 days, but now he seems to eat every day. I'm offering him 5-6 large dusted crickets 5-6 times weekly. He also takes bites of his hibiscus. I have to cover the soil with rocks so he won't eat that instead. :D
